This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out the parameters, rules and restrictions applicable to the use of all web hosting services, server infrastructure and networks provided by ALTCOM Unipessoal Lda (“ALTCOM”).
Acceptance of any Commercial Proposal or use of ALTCOM’s services implies the full and unconditional acceptance of this AUP by the CLIENT. The CLIENT is solely responsible for ensuring that all use of the contracted infrastructure — whether through its own direct action or that of third parties with access to its systems — strictly complies with the terms set out herein.
ALTCOM’s infrastructure is intended to support the development and legitimate operation of businesses and professional activities (B2B). The use of resources must respect the principles of legality, security, digital ethics and the preservation of the technical integrity of shared or dedicated servers.
The hosting resources made available by ALTCOM are governed by strict technical limits in order to safeguard the stability and overall performance of the server and of the other hosted clients. It is strictly prohibited to engage in:
Hosting of Large Files (File-Sharing): Using the server’s disk space for mass storage, sharing of large files, public download repositories, distribution of pirated software, multimedia files not directly associated with the operation of the Website, or materials known as warez.
Local Backups: Using ALTCOM’s web hosting to store backups of local computers, external servers, mobile devices or databases of other projects unrelated to the main hosted Website.
Cryptocurrency Mining: Running, installing or hosting any scripts, tools or processes intended for cryptocurrency mining (cryptojacking).
Background Processes and Scripts: Running continuous background processes, excessively frequent cron tasks, or scripts that consume the server’s computing resources disproportionately (CPU, RAM, disk I/O or an excessive number of files/Inodes).
The CLIENT undertakes not to compromise, test or breach the security of ALTCOM’s infrastructure or that of third parties. The following constitute serious breaches:
Cyber Attacks: Carrying out penetration tests, port scanning (port scanning), denial-of-service attacks (DDoS), brute-force attempts, injection of malicious code or exploitation of server vulnerabilities.
Obsolete or Vulnerable Software: Actively keeping on the server outdated CMS installations, themes, plugins or scripts known to contain critical security flaws that facilitate the injection of malware, phishing or the creation of entry points (backdoors).
Dissemination of Malicious Code: Storing, distributing or spreading viruses, trojans, ransomware, spyware or any other type of intrusive or destructive software.
The use of ALTCOM’s mailboxes and SMTP servers is governed by strict standards of netiquette and legal compliance:
Sending Spam (Bulk Email / Unsolicited Bulk Email): The sending of unsolicited, mass or commercial e-mail (spam) is strictly prohibited, as is the use of purchased contact lists, lists obtained by scraping (scraping) or lists without the explicit (verifiable opt-in) consent of the data subjects.
Spoofing and Phishing Practices: Falsifying e-mail headers or sender identities, or creating web pages intended to fraudulently collect confidential data from third parties (phishing).
Illegal or Harmful Content: Storing, publishing or transmitting through ALTCOM’s services any content that is defamatory, fraudulent, obscene, racist or xenophobic, that incites violence or crime, or that infringes the intellectual property rights of third parties.
Monitoring: ALTCOM reserves the right (but not the obligation) to monitor, automatically or manually, the traffic, resource consumption and files hosted on its servers in order to detect potential breaches of this AUP.
Suspension Without Prior Notice: Should ALTCOM detect any breach of this policy, excessive resource consumption that threatens the stability of the server, or a security compromise (e.g. injection of malware or involuntary sending of spam), it reserves the right to immediately suspend the service concerned, without prior notice and without the CLIENT being entitled to any compensation or refund.
Termination of Contract: Repeated infringements or the seriousness of the breach of the AUP entitle ALTCOM to unilaterally terminate the Service Agreement, permanently removing all associated data.
ALTCOM may update this Acceptable Use Policy at any time, and the most recent version will always be published at altcom.pt/pua. Continued use of the services after its publication constitutes tacit acceptance of the new terms.
